How To Give

Gifts to the Brown Annual Fund directly support the Plan for Academic Enrichment. During the 2006-2007 academic year, alumni & alumnae, parents, and friends made gifts to support many projects. For example:

125 gifts of $20 ($2,500)
supported a doctoral student in philosophy during the summer months.

144 gifts of $25 ($3,600)
enabled the Library to maintain an electronic resources management system for its growing collection of electronic databases, making them accessible for research.

60 gifts of $50 ($3,000)
provided an undergraduate teaching and research award (UTRA) in which students in chemistry and plant biology created compounds that can be used to inhibit or promote pollen tube growth.

280 gifts of $75 ($21,000)
provided a need-based Brown Scholarship award for a Junior.

260 gifts of $100 ($26,000)
funded a first-year seminar in economics.

100 gifts of $250 ($25,000)
provided a dissertation fellowship for a graduate student.

70 gifts of $500 ($35,000)

maintained Brown's course management system (WebCT), giving faculty and students access to electronic tools that extend learning beyond the classroom.

8 gifts of $2,500 ($20,000)

112 gifts of $1,000 ($112,000)
provided the salary for an associate professor.

22 gifts of $2,500 ($55,000)

9 gifts of $10,000 ($90,000)

provided a Seed Fund for an interdisciplinary team of physicists, engineers and hospital-based research faculty to use newly developed biophysical and engineering tools to study the forces involved in the adhesion and migration of T cells.
