How To Give

The Library - A Hub of Academic Resources

Brown’s rigorous academic life requires library resources that are constantly evolving to meet the demands of students and faculty. Academic journals, electronic databases, special collections, and ample study space are all vitally important to the high-level research
conducted across all disciplines at the University. In January 2007, the Susan P. and Richard A. Friedman Study Center, a 24-hour study space, opened in the Sciences Library. The library also began participation in Portico, a service that provides a permanent archive of electronic scholarly journals.

Your gift to the Brown Annual Fund provides students and faculty with access to the primary and secondary sources that fuel intellectual debate, critique, and exploration. Your gift goes straight to the place wherededication and inspiration combine to yield tremendous results: the library.

"The library at Brown is the place where my ideas take shape! As someone who has written many term papers, I am grateful for the amazing print and electronic collections that are available. Brown students all have busy schedules and really diverse concentrations, but the library meets everyone’s needs: absolute quiet areas, helpful librarians, convenient hours of operation – even an onsite café. I go there to study alone or with classmates – it’s my second home."
