Season's Greetings Medical Families!

As 2019 comes to an end and we look ahead to the new year, we want to take this time to remember everything we have to be grateful for and reflect on the successes of the past year.

We hope that means a sense of comfort and a feeling of accomplishment for your student as they get ready to enjoy a winter break.

Inside Insight
This month ...

  • Warren Alpert Medical School students are giving back to the community! First-year medical students are supporting a winter clothing collection drive for students at New Bedford High School. Second-year students recently participated in a collection of books, magazines and coloring books for patients, and have now moved on to a toy drive to benefit local kids.
  • Second-years are very busy as they wrap up the Human Reproduction block. While learning about the reproductive system, they are asked to think about the rates of both maternal and fetal mortality in this country, and how race, among other factors, seems to determine how well moms do during delivery and the postpartum period.
  • Fourth-year students are still traveling the country for residency interviews and occasionally reconnecting with old friends on the way! Some have already reached the end of their journey, including our students in the military match who found out their residency placements earlier this week. Congratulations to them!
  • Brown's chapter of the Student National Medical Association and the Pathways program hosted a “Meet the Cadaver” event where 150+ local high school students had a chance to learn vital signs, attend a health care professions panel, and learn some basics of human anatomy.
