Hello Medical Families!

Things are in full swing at The Warren Alpert Medical School. First-year students are still beaming from receiving their white coats, in-person and virtual events are being planned, and halls and classrooms at the Medical School are buzzing once again with students, staff and faculty.

Students have provided a glimpse into everything that is happening at the Medical School this month. Read summaries from a student in each class year.

  • MD’22: Fourth-year medical students just completed submitting residency applications, while also completing elective requirements in a variety of medical disciplines. Read more.
  • MD’23: Third-year students are in the midst of their respective clerkship schedules. Many finished the Step 1 exam in May and returned to Providence to work their way through the six core clerkships and three elective rotations. Read more.
  • MD’24: The start of the semester brought a lot of “firsts” for the second-year class, including the first time the entire class could congregate in one room, were able to share a meal together, and could take their first in-person exam in the Medical School. Read more.
  • MD’25: First-year students received their white coats in front of family and friends a couple of weeks ago during the Ceremony of Commitment to Medicine! Read more.
  • PLME: The undergraduate Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) welcomed all PLME students to campus, including its Class of 2025. Read more.

Join us for Family Weekend October 15-17!
Brown University is planning an in-person Family Weekend and the Medical School is hosting several events for parents and families to attend. There will be student-led tours of the Medical School, student and faculty panels to give you information about the place where your students spend long hours, and faculty and alumni forums. Sign Up for Medicine Today!
Join us at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, for the premiere of the virtual series Medicine Today. Dr. Wafik El-Deiry, Mencoff Family University Professor of Medical Science and director of the Cancer Center at Brown, will moderate a conversation about Breast Cancer Research and Patient Advocacy with Dr. Stephanie Graff, who is newly recruited to the Cancer Center at Brown.
