Greetings Medical Families!

Temperatures are warming up, leaves are starting to pop in Providence and anticipation is building as the end of the semester nears.

Inside Insight
Read about what has been happening at the Medical School as each class gets ready to move up:

  • MD’21: Fourth-year students are excited as they are just a few days away from taking their Physician’s Oath on May 1. Read more.
  • MD’22: Third-year students cannot believe they are only a year away from carrying the MD title after their names, as they gear up for away rotations, board exams, and a residency application cycle that is quickly approaching. Read more.
  • MD’23: Since the end of March, second-year students have been, literally, all over the map, as they each went their own way to study for the USLME Step 1 exam. Read more.
  • MD’24: During team-based learning, first-year students are working collaboratively to solve clinical cases while engaging in clinical problem-solving. Read more.
  • PLME: The Whole Patient and Whole Physician Programs jointly presented a panel featuring Drs. Emily Allen, Bella Avanessian, Dicken Ko and Jessica Marrero to discuss gender affirming care. Read more.

Attend Commencement and Reunion Weekend Events
Medical Commencement and Reunion Weekend is this weekend, April 30 to May 2. We’d love for you to participate!

  • Kick off Commencement and Reunion festivities by joining the Brown medical community for Opening Celebration. During this virtual event we will congratulate graduates and their families, present alumni awards and more. Please register here by this Wednesday, April 28, so you can receive the Zoom instructions.
  • Two popular lectures will be held on Saturday, May 1. At noon, Dr. Kathleen Ferrer ’95 will present The Ruth B. Sauber Distinguished Alumni Lectureship titled, "Pediatric HIV and COVID: Bending the Curve in Two Epidemics." At 1:30 p.m., veteran New York Times journalist, Paula Span will present The Frank and Joan Rothman Lecture titled, “On Growing Older: Aging, Caregiving and Grandparenting.” Register today for Zoom instructions.
