Greetings Medical Families!

The 2020-21 academic year is officially underway at The Warren Alpert Medical School and we hope your students are settling into their new routine.

Inside Insight
The information below has been provided by faculty and staff from the Office of Medical Education (OME) and the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and is accurate as of August 27.

  • MD’21 students continue to take sub-internships and elective rotations, which reside in almost every one of the Medical School’s clinical departments. Read more.
  • MD’22 students continue their clerkship rotations, with most now beginning either their second or third clerkship. Read more.
  • MD’23 students are finishing their Cardiology Integrated Medical Sciences course this week and will begin Pulmonology next. Read more.
  • MD’24 class successfully completed the first ever virtual orientation at The Warren Alpert Medical School and will finish the first block of their medical school journey this week. Read more.

 Student Groups Recognized

  • The Family Medicine Interest Group has received the Program of Excellence Award for Excellence in Exposure to Family Medicine from the American Academy of Family Physicians.
  • The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) Chapter was selected as the Chapter of the Month by the LMSA Northeast Region for the month of July.

  • Today at 7 p.m. EDT is the virtual book launch for “Waiting for an Echo: The Madness of American Incarceration,” by Christine Montross MD’06 RES’10. Learn more and join the virtual event here.
  • In a letter to The Warren Alpert Medical School community on August 11, Deans Elias and Tunkel provided the latest updates on the plan for the 2020-21 academic year. Read the letter here.

Staying Connected

  • Share Words of Wisdom: Though we can’t gather in person to celebrate the White Coat Ceremony for the MD class of 2024, you can still wish our first-year students well as they begin their Medical School journey. Submit congratulatory messages here.
  • Volunteer to be a Mentor: We’d like to thank those of you who have already volunteered for the new virtual mentor program. If you haven’t already signed up but are still interested in helping the next generation of future physicians, please show your interest by filling out this form and we will be in touch with more information soon.
