Greetings Medical Families!

We hope you’ve all been able to relax a bit and enjoy all that summer has to offer. As summer winds down, your students are diving right into their learning. We look forward to providing you updates throughout the academic year.

Inside Insight
The offices of Medical Education and Student Affairs have provided insight as to what each class is doing as we head into the fall.

  • MD’22: Fourth-year medical students are fully engaged in the early stages of the year-long residency application process. Read more.
  • MD’23: All third-year medical students were fit tested for hospital-approved, reusable respirator masks prior to starting their clinical rotations on May 24. Read more.
  • MD’24: Second-year students have returned to full in-person activities, with selected virtual components of the curriculum, alongside a return to pre-COVID extracurricular offerings, including resumption of student interest group activities and pre-clerkship electives. Read more.
  • MD’25: First-year medical students were welcomed to campus on August 2 and participated in a week-long in-person orientation. Read more.

New Webinar Series to Launch in October
Save the date! Mark Wednesday, October 6, on your calendar as we kick off the first event in a new virtual series, Medicine Today.

Dr. Wafik El-Deiry, Mencoff Family University Professor of Medical Science and director of the Cancer Center at Brown, will host a webinar with new faculty member, Dr. Stephanie Graff, assistant professor of medicine at Brown and director of breast oncology at the Lifespan Cancer Institute. The webinar will highlight the Cancer Center at Brown and the important work Dr. Graff is conducting in breast cancer and patient advocacy. Invitation to come!
